1889, July 1st: Twenty six year old, John M. Lewis is living in Harlan County, Kentucky when he obtains a marriage license to marry Haly Lockaby in Laurel County, Kentucky on July 1st, 1889. The marriage license states that they are to be married at "Mrs. Lockaby's?" This is her first marriage. May possibly be John's second marriage. John was born in Harlan County, Kentucky as were his parents. Haly says she was born in Laurel County, Kentucky and her father was born in Tennessee. She states her mother was born in Laurel County, Kentucky.
